Kind of Blue — Miles Davis
Why I Bought It: I caught multiple recommendations on this record as a place to start listening to jazz, mainly from Dave Krusch, J. Zach Bello and one 'Aamir Bermiss.
Why You Should: My boys all recommended it for a reason. You can just throw this on all the time, and never get tired of it.
Only Get One Shot: "So What"
Round Midnight — Thelonious Monk
WIB: The cat went to, though didn't graduate from, Stuyvesant HS in New York, where I attended.
WYS: Monk is the ill jazz pianist. You should know this if you don't.
OGOS: "Round Midnight"
The Best of Ken Burns Jazz
WIB: It was a freebie from the Baseball Hall of Fame — Ken Burns did the baseball documentary, as well.
WYS: It's a very solid jazz compilation; there aren't really any flaws.
OGOS: "King Porter Stomp" (Benny Goodman and His Orchestra)
