An Ode to Iciness

Here's an ode to iciness
& never really knowing
if it's a sarcastic comment
or an elbow that she's throwing.

Does "We all know I'm cooler than you."
mean exactly that
or is it a subtle way of her
taking revenge exact?

But when we're going at it
I only think one thing —
if I make my next riposte
will it make her sting?

Because we all know she deserves
every zinger that she gets
cuz once she took the zing away
she displaced all the bets.

But she probably thinks it's my fault,
this situation that we're in
& maybe I contributed,
but with her lies the sin.

See, she cut this off before it started
& threw me for a loop.
All that potential vanished quick
like a follower inside a group.

So maybe this isn't healthy
in that normal kind of way.
But I'll be damned if it don't feel good
to treat her bad today.

We'll suck it up & deal
so long as we're stuck together
& pretend we enjoy the gloom & rain
while we wish for sunny weather.
