She wants to go home
and somebody's there,
but somebody can't see
cuz they're simply too scared
to accept the reject-ion
coming their way
about how they're not needed
and don't have a say.

Maybe she's right
on both of those counts,
but that doesn't mean
that home's place is out -
side of the circle
that she's done created;
seven days til disaster
repeated, not faded.
She's jaded
and forgets the one place she can go
without any questions
remains her home;
but she's got to find it
without help, on her own.

But then home has to resolve
to not let her go
to keep her in its grasp
so she can flower and grow
blossom into
the tree she can be
if watered and groomed
app-ro-pri-ate-ly.
Man, she wants to go home,
she just doesn't know
how to speak it,
to say it,
to reap words that can sow
reward
reciprocation
love
admiration
heartfelt
adoration
for the person she is,
has been,
will become,
the base interaction
with no real reason.

And man, it sucks
that peo-ple home are fucked
by pride
and can't admit that they're stuck
at an impasse
can't di-et on Slim Fast
shedding the weight
responsiblity passed
on their shoulders
in one weight-changing mass
that's shifting in size,
and don't let them relax.

See, that is the catch
of these things that last
there's no shrugging to do
for fam-i-ly At-las.
No pressure relieved,
no exuberant joy,
no chance to undo
not having a boy.
Not that boys aren't work
cuz they're sure not easy.
But girls force questions
like how are they sleazy
or skeezy or ho-ish;
a double standard, sure,
but that line it gets noted.
You gotta be careful
girls don't get doted
on by anyone but their pops
or their moms
if dad wasn't a-round to stop
the rebellious kiss off
they often cop
to express themselves
when att-en-tion levels drop.

But even if they do
home needs to come through
and be there for girls
that don't know they need you
arrest their development
if you have to —
just freeze their steeze
even as they turn blue,
cuz they'll hold their breath
for you on cue
releasing only because
air forces through
their defenses
and reaches them senseless
forcing their senses
to register you
and your presence,
and it's aura, too.

And then they know home
is waiting
for more than a few
times or screwups
and that few is many
because home is pre-
pared and ready
with a place set
for the girl who comes
ragged, unsteady
when she needs home most
to be a comfortable setting.
