I don't believe in metaphor
or the similie —

I need the facts, the story told
for art to sing to me.

I want to know the where,
the who, what, when and how.

I want the artist here with me
to explain things in the now.

I'd ask them all the reasons why
& the causes of

when I fully know the answer here
is none of the above.

It could have been a sentence
or a story or a song;

it could have been some part of life
that horribly went wrong.

That answer isn't good enough,
but will suffice today.

For now I'll rest alone ashore,
tomorrow explore the bay.
