On the Box
Must-See TV — 6/16/05
So I had to turn in the cablebox come graduation, leaving me with no DVR schedule for a horrible, just horrible three-week stretch. But then I successfully conned my parents into not only getting a DVR box, but hooking up cable in my room on the third floor. It's a beautiful thing. So here's a quick update on the shows I had been recording back when:
Radio Free Roscoe — It's finally over, which saddens me, but it ended in such a natural place I can't be mad. Rily 4 Life represent. If I were Bill Simmons, there would have been a 3,000 word column on this.
It may or may not be in the works.
Degrassi: The Next Generation — I stopped watching. The drama killed me.
The O.C. — That season was absolutely out of control. Marissa shooting Trey through the heart with one shot - one-handed the first time she ever picked up a gun - officially earned her a BC Gangsta Seal of Approval.
House — I saw every episode of this except for the season finale. I'm still irritated by this several weeks later. Rational, I might not be.
NUMB3RS — I just fell off watching this. Good show though. Definitely would check out the new season.
American Idol — I called it from the beginning, and y'all need to recognize: the SHF (Smokin' Hot Farmgirl - Carrie Underwood) is your American Idol.
Point Pleasant — Fell off after episode three and don't really miss it that much.
My So-Called Life — Done. I never watched a recorded episode. It was a sentimental choice, not a rational one.
Scrubs — I stand by my line from last time: Amusing. A good half hour diversion.
Family Guy — I've seen mostly every episode. Mostly.
Wonder Showzen — Cracked out hilarity I'm not sure I should enjoy as much as I do.
Drawn Together — Saw the whole season. I wonder if it can stand up through a second season.
Robot Chicken — So bizarre I haven't been able to bring myself to watch new episodes.
NBA All-Star Saturday Night — I didn't rewatch it, but I have to admit I'm still peeved J.R. Smith didn't make the final.
And here's a quick rundown of the stuff I'm recording now:
britney and kevin: chaotic — Or as I like to call it, Britney and Kevin: Trainwreck.
the comeback — I can't decide if Lisa Kudrow doing this show is knowingly lampooning, and therefore funny, or outright pathetic, and therefore sad.
Curb your enthusiam — You just need to give this a chance to grow on you. They get away with putting stuff on TV you won't see anywhere else. Like Larry David rasping as he futilely attempts to dislodge a pubic hair from his throat.
entourage — I caught the beginning of Season Two and I'm greatly impressed. It rewards you for paying attention to the writing instead of the atmosphere.
the inside — I'm watching my first episode as I write this. The previews did look quite cool.
law & order: special victims unit — Hands down my favorite show to just throw on and wind down to. I have yet to decide if that means I'm a bad person.
law & order: trial by jury — Great drama in the courtroom. It almost makes me bummed I postponed jury duty.
lost — Word on the street is that this was quite the show. I'm looking forward to catching up with the reruns.
medium — Looked interesting enough to check out temporarily.
